Cooperation with non-profit organisations

The cooperation with non-profit organisations and the Faculty of Business and Management started in 2015. The inspiration for this cooperation came from teaching at a university in Portugal, Coimbra, where students helped local non-profit projects as part of the Marketing course. This way of involving local entities in student team projects started to be implemented at our faculty as well. Over the years, our students have been involved in projects such as Persefona, z. s., Hospic sv. Alžběty, o. p. s., AGAPO, o.p.s., Armáda spásy.

Working on projects is interesting for students, because they often get a glimpse into issues they have not had the opportunity to encounter before, and also, of course, beneficial, because they develop real tasks based on the actual situation and specified requirements for local entities, specifically non-profit organizations. Students can continuously consult the assignments and at the end, during the presentation, they can get feedback on their elaborated proposals.

Thanks to all the students and non-profit organisations involved for their cooperation.

Objective of cooperation

The aim of the cooperation is to propose to the involved non-profit organisations the design of adequate marketing tools that correspond to their current situation and specified requirements.

Cooperation procedure

Before the start of the semester, each non-profit organisation defines the objective of the project and sets the exact requirements for the project. The most common assignment is to design a campaign to promote the activities of the non-profit organisation. The assignment is then discussed with the project leader and the other instructors of the course. At the beginning of the semester, the nonprofit organization introduces its organization and its assignment to the students, which the students work on during the semester. Subsequently, at least three consultations with the nonprofit organization and the instructors will take place during the semester. At the end of the semester, students present their solutions to the NPO representatives and instructors who provide feedback.

Project outputs

Project outputs are most often focused on the detailed definition of possible activities that should help promote the activities of the non-profit organisations, e.g. a run for the non-profit organisations, events for clients, a new service, etc. This includes developing the timing, content and cost of these activities, including defining the benefits of these activities to the nonprofit. Deliverables usually include a graphic design for a poster that can be used.

Project outputs are beneficial to non-profit organisations because they help them see themselves and their activities from a slightly different perspective and provide practical solutions to their brief, including detailed work.
